Receipt OCR

Snap the receipt. Get the data.

Photograph a receipt, forward it by e-mail or send it to the API. Parsevix reads the store, date, items, tax and payment and returns them as structured data, ready for an expense report or the books.

  • Phone photos and scans, turned upright
  • Items, tax, tips and the card used
  • Personal data masked automatically before the AI step

What you get back

Every line of a receipt, in one structure.

The built-in Receipt category returns 22 fields: the store, the purchase, the items as a table, the amounts and the payment. Use it as it is, or change it in your project.

Dates come back as ISO dates and amounts as plain numbers, however the receipt prints them. A field the receipt doesn't show, such as a tip on a supermarket receipt, is left out, not guessed.

Made for expenses

From the shoebox to structured data.

Receipts arrive crumpled, photographed on a table and from every country a trip goes to. This is what Parsevix does with them.

01

Receipts collected by e-mail

Give your team the project's e-mail address. Every receipt they forward becomes a document: Parsevix files it under Receipt, or under Invoice when it is one, at no extra cost, and its fields reach your tool by webhook, Zapier or the API.

E-mail addresses come with the paid plans.

  • 02

    Phone photos, any way up

A photo is read like a scan. A receipt photographed sideways or upside down is turned upright before it is read.

  • 03

    Tax, discounts, tips and change

The category has its own fields for the tax rate and amount, discounts, tips and change, so a restaurant bill and a supermarket receipt fill the same structure.

  • 04

    The card that paid

The payment method, the card's last four digits and the transaction reference are fields of their own, ready to match against the card statement.

  • 05

    Receipts from every trip

The language is detected on each receipt and the currency is a field of its own: a taxi receipt from Lisbon and a café receipt from Warsaw fill the same fields, with ISO dates and plain numbers.

  • 06

Check a value on the photo

Each value is linked to the spot on the photo it came from. Click it in the dashboard to see where it was printed.

  • 07

    Nothing to install

Upload from the browser on a computer or a phone, forward by e-mail or send from your own app through the API.

How receipts get in

Snap them, forward them or send them from your app.

Dashboard

Upload receipts from your computer or from the browser on your phone. Check each result next to its photo and approve it.

E-mail address

Paid plans

Every project gets its own address. Your team forwards receipts to it, and each attachment becomes a document.

API

Send the photo from your expense app and get the JSON in the same response, or receive results by signed webhook or through Zapier.

Request

curl https://parsevix.com/api/v1/extract \
  -H "X-API-Key: $PARSEVIX_API_KEY" \
  -F file=@receipt.jpg \
  -F category="Receipt"

The request stays open until the document is read and answers with the JSON.

  • POST /documentsUpload without waiting; the result arrives by webhook or callback.
  • POST /extract-autoNo category: every field Parsevix finds, named as in the document.
  • POST /classifyOnly the document's category, for 1 credit.

Every plan reads, sorts and masks documents the same way. Picking the category is included, and a document that fails costs nothing.

Receipt FAQ

Receipts,
answered.

What teams ask before they send their first receipts.

Still have a question?

Write to us. A person reads every message.

JPG, PNG and TIFF photos or scans, PDF and Word, up to 10 MB and 30 pages each. HEIC, the iPhone camera's default format, and WebP are not accepted yet: share or save those photos as JPG.

Put one receipt in each file. A photo or PDF with several receipts on it is read as one document, so their items and totals would end up in one result.

They forward them to the project's e-mail address (paid plans) or upload them in the dashboard, also from a phone's browser. Each receipt becomes a document you can check and approve, and the results go out by webhook, Zapier or the API.

Yes. Change the Receipt category in your project and add the fields you need, such as the store's VAT number, a table number or a loyalty card number, each with a sentence on what it is. A field is filled only from what the receipt shows.

One credit per page, and a receipt photo is one page. Choosing the category is included, and if a document fails, its credits are given back.

Receipts uploaded in the dashboard or sent by e-mail stay in your project until you delete them. Files sent through the API are deleted after processing unless you turn on keeping them for the project. Your receipts are never used to train AI.
